For Maxine. Tonight when the sun bids bye
Some things are fun the first time you do it Not so much the next.
To be African. What is it to be one?Â
When my mind's bizarre and unsure Up I stare at the azure
I like to think that nature is a woman, Her face is covered up with beauty,
The beautiful songs of birds, With cool waves fresh from the woods,
I have walked through storm and placid, Through sun and rain,
Oh Kenya, my motherland You ooze beauty, infallible beauty
A lush green ascension by the hill side, An open house for two love birds with no nest,
